Light the Night 2024

UFCW Canada Eastern Provinces Council Locals 864, 1288P and 1252 are once again proud to have partaken in the annual Light the Night fundraiser in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.

Roughly 1,300 people gathered at Pier 21 on Saturday, Oct. 26 to walk along the Halifax waterfront donning lit paper lanterns in honour of those who have fought bloodborne cancers.  

Several UFCW EPC executive board members were selected during the event to hand out roses to Leukemia and Lymphoma survivors, an honour each member accepted proudly.  

Together as Team Luminary, the Eastern Provinces Council was able to donate $50,000 to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada, helping set a record breaking $1.18 million and counting in donations.  

Despite all the lanterns illuminating the waterfront, the brightest moment of the night came when it was revealed that Halifax was the top fundraising region, besting Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.  

Donations for the 2024 Light the Night fundraiser are accepted until Dec. 31, 2024, and we invite all bargaining unit members to begin brainstorming fundraising ideas for 2025.
