864 members at Loblaw Lakeside win massive gains

UFCW Eastern Provinces Council Local 864 members at the Loblaws Lakeside Warehouse have settled a strong five-year collective agreement bringing real, tangible improvements to workers’ day-to-day lives.

The contract brings in a 26.5% wage increase over its term, with 13.1% landing in year one, working out to roughly $480 more per month for a typical full-time worker.

This is the kind of increase that helps with rising costs, household expenses, or simply giving families a bit more breathing room at the end of the month.

Part-time workers also saw a major fairness win with wage parity with full-timers, helping ensure equal pay for equal work across the warehouse.

Drivers also secured sizable gains with a 22.7% increase in mileage rates over five years, including 13.6% up front, allowing them to be fairly compensated for time spent away from home.

Additionally, quality-of-life improvements were made as well, including an additional paid sick day and the new option to cash out unused sick days, giving workers more flexibility and control over their benefits.

With 79% turnout and 90% voting in favour, members sent a strong message of confidence in the improvements secured at the table.
