Workers deserve to feel safe at their jobs.
In a move bringing increased wages and safety to our members, workers at the House of Nazareth temporary homeless shelter in Moncton voted 89 per cent in favour of a new 4-year collective agreement.
Members secured a 15 per cent wage bump over the course of the contract, including five per cent in the first year.
To improve the safety of our members working in vulnerable sectors, stronger health and safety language was implemented to ensure our members go to work in a safe environment without the fear of employer retaliation or negligence if hurt at work.
Staff also earned more paid time off with increases to vacation time, bereavement clause and two extra stat holidays.
