UFCW Canada Atlantic activists celebrate Halifax Pride

August 7, 2014 – UFCW Canada Atlantic activists proudly joined thousands of other participants at the Halifax Pride Parade, July 26. The parade was part of the 27th Annual Halifax Pride Festival and featured 106 floats — including a UFCW Canada float sponsored by the UFCW Canada Eastern Provinces Council (EPC).

"It's all about respect for all. It was a terrific day and great way to celebrate our UFCW Pride with LGBTQ members of our union and community," says Mark Dobson, UFCW Canada's regional director for the Eastern Provinces. Staff from the EPC office and their family members joined with UFCW Canada Local 864 members and family members to make up the UFCW Canada Atlantic contingent. The parade took over an hour to wind through the streets of Halifax and drew more than 75,000 spectators, making it the largest and most successful Halifax Pride Parade ever.
