UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship Winner: Kristen Richards

St. John's, N.L. – December 14, 2015 – Kristen Richards is one of eighteen UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship winners for 2015.

Currently in her first year of the Bachelor of Nursing program at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Kristen is the daughter of Wendy Richards, a proud UFCW Canada Local 1252 member who works at the Delta St. John's Hotel and Conference Centre.

Kristen had the following to say about winning a UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship:

"This scholarship means a lot to me because I have been working very hard in school and it feels good to finally be rewarded for it. The books and registration for my program are extremely expensive, so this scholarship will have a big impact on my life. I am very grateful to be a recipient of the 2015 UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship, as it will help me pursue my goal of becoming a registered nurse."

Every year UFCW Canada offers a total of eighteen union scholarships worth $1,000 each to members, their spouses, and dependants for post-secondary education. The BDM scholarship was created to honour past UFCW leaders William Beggs, Fred Dowling, and Romeo Mathieu.

Applications for the 2016 UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship are now open. To find out more about this renowned union scholarship, or to apply online, click here.
