Halifax – October 24, 2020 - Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this years regional Light the Night event was held on the eighth floor of the Hotel Halifax by UFCW Eastern Provinces Council activists and their friends and family. We were able to celebrate the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) event together in a safe environment while watching a live stream of the event around Canada.
Speakers participating in the live stream included blood cancer survivors, their families, medical professionals, major donators (including UFCW Canada staff and members from across Canada) as well as Canadian and international celebrities, including musical guests who performed over the livestream.
The celebration was also graced with the presence of a past mascot of the LLSC, Spike the dinosaur, who stopped by to spread cheer and entertain the young ones in attendance. The most encouraging aspect of the event, however, is that despite the challenges we have all faced this year, UFCW Canada and many other contributors still took the time to come together during this pandemic and put their time and money to good use in helping those in need of aid from this unfortunate disease.
Regardless of any obstacles in our way, UFCW Canada and Team Luminary took back the night in 2020!
